We began to hear from people working in the social welfare sector that many in the local community were doing it tough with mobility restrictions enforced with the arrival of COVID 19 in March 2020.
Locals were struggling with homelessness, family breakdown, financial pressures, domestic violence, along with the associated mental health issues these scenarios create.
It was decided to run a surfing marathon similar to one in Maroubra called “The 100 Waves Challenge” to assist two social welfare organisations managing increased workloads with COVID 19.
We are looking forward to running the 100 Waves Challenge again once COVID restrictions are lifted and our capacity permits. Cause is yet to be identified.
